THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION IS REPORTEDLY  “DEBATING” COLD BLOODED MURDER

by Michael Peroutka

According to a February 11th New York Times article by Mark Mazzetti and Eric Schmitt, the Obama administration is debating whether to authorize a lethal strike against an American citizen living in Pakistan.

The Crime committed by this person?

Well, we really don’t know and, of course, if this person is killed by a drone strike authorized by Barak Obama, we never will know, will we?

We’ll put all our faith in Barak Obama and allow him to decide who lives and who dies.

Forgive me for putting this in such plain words, but what’s being “debated” is whether or not a human being, in this case a US citizen, should be murdered in cold blood – no trial, no evidence, no conviction in a court of law – no nothing!

Nazis were hung at Nuremberg for this very thing, weren’t they?

You see, under our American system of law, the government cannot take a life of any person, citizen or no, without what we call “due process of law”.

Due process involves principles of law that are Biblically based, are incorporated into the American legal system, and find their expression at least as far back as the Magna Carta.

According to Black’s Law Dictionary (3rd Edition), due process means proceeding according to those rules and principles which have been established in our systems of jurisprudence for the enforcement and protection of private rights.  They include

  • A competent tribunal to pass upon the subject matter;
  • The right of the accused to know with specificity the charges against him;
  • The opportunity to present a defense to those charges; and,
  • A speedy and public trial before a jury of peers.

If these procedures and principles are not followed in every case then no one’s life or liberty or property is safe from a government which has become corrupt.  It is not even safe from a government or a president that makes a mistake.

If we have learned anything since 9/11 it is that the president is often wrong, despite his claims to be certain he is right. For example, you will recall the absence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

The Obama regime insists that it is adhering to a “careful process” in deciding who and how to assassinate United States citizens overseas.

Really?

As University of Houston law professor, David R. Dow points out in a letter published by the New York Times, “no amount of legalese can obscure the central fact that this process is entirely non-judicial and ultimately comes down to the decision of one single man.”

At the Institute on the Constitution, we agree with the conclusion reached by Professor Dow, when he says, “Nobody knows whether extrajudicial assassinations save American lives, but we do know that the Obama administration’s policy of killing United States citizens is utterly lawless.”

Furthermore, we believe that this lawlessness -- this violation of the moral law and the protections of the supreme law of the land – constitutes yet another legal argument for impeachment.

And so we call upon our Congressmen to file articles of impeachment in the House of Representatives.  We are asking our elected officials to follow their oath and do their duty by removing this lawbreaking regime.

Once again, you might consider sending this brief video to your congressman, asking him, respectfully, to do his job.
