LIES ABOUT OBAMACARE: ARE YOU REALLY SURPRISED?
LIES ABOUT OBAMACARE: ARE YOU REALLY SURPRISED?
by Michael Peroutka
Before last week, you had probably never heard of Jonathan Gruber.
Gruber is the MIT economist who was once considered to be the intellectual architect behind Obamacare. Nancy Pelosi now says he had nothing to do with Obamacare. But back in 2009 she was quoting him publically and endorsing his published opinions on the matter.
In any event, you have now heard about him because a series of videos have surfaced in which he candidly declares that the legislation was written in a way that was designed to deceive the American people and to exploit “the stupidity of the American voter”.
Gruber was very pleased, and pleased with himself apparently, that he and his cronies were able to fool us all. It was for our own good, of course that they did it.
You see, in the liberal mind, the progressive agenda is good for Americans but Americans are just too dense to see it as clearly as liberals do. Liberals are therefore reluctant to let the rest of us make our own decisions. This reluctance leads them to lie to us for our own good.
Is any of this a surprise to you?
Here’s what I’m getting at:
Even though you may not have known Jonathan Gruber until last week, you knew someone like him existed, didn’t you. You knew you were being lied to about Obamacare, didn’t you?
Or did you believe Obama when he told you that if you liked your insurance plan you could keep it?
Did you believe Obama when he said you were going to save money on your health insurance?
For that matter, do you believe that government is a truth teller?
Do you believe that government intervention in a marketplace makes the market more efficient and just?
Do you believe that government is the solution to our economic problems?
If you do, then maybe Jonathan Gruber is right. Maybe you need someone like him to lie to you for your own good.
But if you believe, as Ronald Reagan said, that government itself is the problem, you would expect that the party of Reagan, the party that has just won a sweeping victory, will use that victory to undo the farce of Obamacare.
But if the Republicans, who will now hold both houses of Congress, fail to deliver the repeal of the Obamacare mess, then we might have to admit that Mr. Gruber was right about our lack of judgment.
This is MAP for IOTC bringing you TAV.
